I have faced many situations where I had to decide where to go for tapas depending of the type of client or friends I have with me at that time.

Of course you always will bring them to the best places in the city but depending of what you want you should do a different path around Barcelona.

That is why I am going to write about 3 different paths a) The Silver b)The Golden & c) The Platinum

3 of them are excellent choices but it will depend of what experience you are looking for.

So here we go.

The Silver Tapas Path in Barcelona

  • Following the old tradition, marble tables, old or non decorative.
  • Popular dishes, atmosphere and flavors like old times.
  • Ideal for an easy going tour with you close friends.
  • Some of them just have a couple tapas and nothing else.
  • Many of them do not accept reservations.
  • Mostly we can say you will be lucky to get a quick service because especially at evening times you have to wait in the line, but it is worth to do it.

Something they have done that they still hold the title of best Patatas Bravas in Spain. The criticisms (both positive and negative) are diverse but we can not doubt the popularity and the long lines outside. His fame in Barcelona is given by their Patatas Bravas with alioli (emulsion of olive oil and garlic) and chili. Located in the district of Sarria, it is essential to take a break after walking through the streets where nineteenth-century Catalan bourgeoisie had its second home and finish the walk with a beer and these Patatas Bravas.

A traditional old meeting bar for boxers. Its walls are the witness of the old days. We are talking about 87 years of tradition, with iron tables and terrazzo floor. It is the perfect place to start or end the tour by one of the most popular and traditional districts of Barcelona El Born. Do not forget to drink a traditional Vermouth.

A bar with a wide range in wines and moreover fried anchovies. It is located very close to Via Laietana and a few steps away from the Post Office headquarters. One of the emblematic buildings of the Gothic Quarter and the door to visit La Barceloneta´s district.  Maybe a glass of wine and some fried anchovies and you will be ready to go on your way.

Located in the district of El Born near to the promenade called by the same name. It is a pedestrian street, ideal for evening / night. This perhaps is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of cava (designation of origin for Champagne made in Spain) with a simple but delicious tomato bread (Pa amb tomàquet), sausage and anchovies Doble Zero ( extra large), one of the best in Barcelona.

Welcome to the district of La Barceloneta. La cova fumada is a traditional tavern and one of the oldest in Barcelona, where you can sample the best potatoes and meat “bomba”  in the city. You have to be aware: This place does not have a commitment with design, this is pure flavor. I don´t think that many tourists know this place. You have to try the fried fish.

Last stop, the Poble-Sec neighborhood, one of the most renowned avenues of Barcelona, Para-lel Avenue, known as the Barcelonian Broadway  because of  the high concentration of theaters and dinner theater like  El Molino. Known as the ¨cans¨ bar, serving their canned goods on a bread created by Dani Jordá, the most creative baker in Barcelona. Our suggestion within the excellent choices, “Tuna belly with a glass of wine”

I hope you enjoy the simplicity of good food, along with having enjoyed the various and diverse neighbourhoods and districts of Barcelona. A Premium Barbershop in Barcelona

His name is Jordi Perez, the owner of La Barbería de Gràcia a family Barbershop created in 1964 with a renovated touch and personality since 2001. He did something for my understanding very difficult: to combine the classic old barbershop with that personalized service and a modern touch with innovation and creativity. The experience and the result gives you that complete sensation and simplicity for you to be the most well presented man in the city.

Whether you choose a haircut or just shaving like old times, it will be a full experience that you will not forget plus, I can guarantee you that in the middle of the service you will think when are you going to book your next appointment.  Jordi is a very communicative guy and you can see he is worried about all details regarding your experience in his barbershop. Maybe that is why 5* Grand Luxe Hotels book this service for their guests.

An absolutely new service is the Capillary SPA. This is a 15 minutes of a relaxing ritual to your hair. I have to be honest, I did not try it yet but I am sure it is as the rest of the services… another premium experience.

Premium products on sale such as the British Geo. F. Trumper  or the United Statian American Crew that says “Many neighborhood barbers disappeared during the ’80s and ’90s and were replaced with salons catering primarily to women. But times have changed, and men are back…”.  I also would like to mention that you can buy a gift voucher for your friend, family member or any man looking for a premium haircut or shaving.

I would like to highlight the experience of a premium shaving. A special treatment you can enjoy from the beginning to the end. The friendly and personalized service that  will bring you from the most traditional ambiance into the modern times in an exclusive way.

My “Don´t do it!”
  1. Even though Las Ramblas is a great highlight and a beautiful pedestrian street to join during the day, as a premium traveller never rent an apartment close to Las Ramblas  because during the day is one thing and by night it is better not to walk around. Specially if you have other unique options.  As I mentioned before from Catalunya Square and up you may consider La Rambla de Catalunya street which sounds very similar but is a huge difference.
  2. Since there are so many offers consider to book with one of the companies that have comments available from previous guests.
  3. Never pay the 100% of the total reservation in advance. A trustful company will never ask over the 40%. Some times depending of the amount of days or value of the property you might be asked to pay up to the 50% prior to arrival.
  4. Try to pay with Visa or Master card because some companies apply an extra charge if you pay with American Express.
  5. Never accept a change of conditions or a promise of a specific service without an e-mail or written paper.
  6. Barcelona does not open its stores on Sunday so don´t leave your shopping for the last day. You never know how busy you will be.
Your mission from now is to enjoy Barcelona because there are so many things to do that I am sure you will comeback again.

My Taxi! A superb service in Barcelona

Founded in 2009 in Germany, this application is market leader amongst all taxi-apps. Its founders Niclaus Mewes & Sven Külper will transform the concept of how to book your taxi across the globe.

I am still astonished because the service is so superb, so unique and there are more and more cities you can get it now. With offices in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain & Poland I am truly grateful to be able to use it in Barcelona.

I will try to describe my personal experience and then you can decide how often you will use this sensational app.

Available for all smartphones except Blackberrys ( The fact is that  still I own my BB 9860 and it is not available. I know, but still I have a small percentage of love attached to Blackberry, unbelievable but true) Fortunately I have my Company´s smartphone  so I am able to use  this app.

Ok so, If you are at home, your office, your Hotel or Luxury Apartment , restaurant or on the street in Barcelona just follow these instructions:

Download mytaxi app  and click on your MYTAXI. Sign in and set up all your general requirements like:

  • Pay with a credit card or cash ( soon you will be able to pay with your smartphone)
  • Do you prefer a ecologic car?
  • Do you prefer a VIP car or a traditional Taxi?, and more…

After that, if you need a taxi just click on the application and the system will locate where you are. Maybe there is a difference of one street away so you can edit the right address where you are at that time.

Then, you select where you want to go and click for your request.

Hundred of taxis will be shown on your screen and one of them will accept your request.

You can calculate fare and track taxi’s approach live on the map.

Once the taxi driver has accepted your request, you will be able to see his/her picture, his/her name, phone and license number. This is like a dream come true specially when you travel to cities and don´t know how much will be the cost and how safe will be your trip. But also if you live in a city and you need a premium basic service.

The taxi driver called me and asked me where I was exactly. I saw him approaching to my location because I was able to see his route on my phone. He greeted me and he drove me to the place. Also, on my mobile I was able to see the route he took to drive me there.

At the end I paid with my credit card and the app sent me a request to evaluate the service and the driver, with the option to select him to my favorite drivers. I have booked for friends who are staying in Barcelona and they have to go back to their hotels. You can check this video

You can book the service in advance and set up the time you want to be picked up. You can do it through your mobile or your laptop.

Modern buildings of considerable height definitely the area where you can  find quality penthouse apartments  to enjoy great views. (15-20 minutes public transportation or taxi)

  1. Even though Las Ramblas is a great highlight and a beautiful pedestrian street to join during the day, as a premium traveller never rent an apartment close to Las Ramblas  because during the day is one thing and by night it is better not to walk around. Specially if you have other unique options.  As I mentioned before from Catalunya Square and up you may consider La Rambla de Catalunya street which sounds very similar but is a huge difference.
  2. Since there are so many offers consider to book with one of the companies that have comments available from previous guests.
  3. Never pay the 100% of the total reservation in advance. A trustful company will never ask over the 40%. Some times depending of the amount of days or value of the property you might be asked to pay up to the 50% prior to arrival.
  4. Try to pay with Visa or Master card because some companies apply an extra charge if you pay with American Express.
  5. Never accept a change of conditions or a promise of a specific service without an e-mail or written paper.
  6. Barcelona does not open its stores on Sunday so don´t leave your shopping for the last day. You never know how busy you will be.
